Himachal/vivekanand vashisht :-  A book dedicated to the brave soldiers of ‘Veer Bhumi’ Himachal Pradesh was released by chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Thakur on the eve of 78th Independence Day celebrations in Dehra assembly.Retd Col BC Lagwal, (Shaurya Chakra) presented a copy of the book to CM and minister sanik welfare Col (Dr.) D.R. Shandil and an another MLA also. The book titled ‘Military Heroes of Himachal Pradesh’ The Veer Bhumi gallantry award winner vol-I, is authored by a prominent military historian Retd. Artillery officer Lt. Col Dilbag Singh Dabas.His book mentions in details WWI-I & II gallantry awardee gallant soldiers deeds and sacrifices made in the war field, including first PVC winner after independence Maj Som Nath Sharma,PVC (Posthumously) from Kangra district.His book also describes the full amount of other PVC,MVC and Victoria Cross decorated bravehearts in its first volume.

Second volume by the author on other gallantry medal decorated soldiers from this hill state will also be released soon.

This is first kind of book released on Himachal’s brave sons and very useful to be prescribed for the young students in JB school,colleges and universities to be refered for curriculum, research fellows,lest next generation come to know that, how a small hill state had a great share in the all wars fought before and after the independence.Reading this book by our young generation will further motivate them to inspire and serve in the armed forces to carve their career following by the foot prints of veer bhumi’s bravehearts who proved their ability in all wars inspite of great challenges and difficulties.
