Hamirpur\/Vivekanand Vashisht:-<\/strong> It\u2019s important to accelerate the works of the project in the field to pave the long-term way of strengthening the economy of rural Himachal Pradesh through economic empowerment of the farmers families. Dr. Sunil Chauhan, the Project Director of the HP Crop Diversification Promotion Project-II, JICA-ODA, here on Saturday (March 7), expressed his views while chairing the first meeting after the visit of the JICA Mid Term Mission and the 1st National Workshop of JICA Aided Projects in India of last month. The meeting is an essential part of post mission visit and post workshop activity for taking up the follow-up steps by the project.<\/p>\n

Dr. Chauhan said that the project activities have been aligned in such a manner that they ultimate achieve the goals of state government strengthening rural economy by making the farmer families earn more, creating sustainable systems in farm sectors treading on the paths to achieve objectives of the project, and policy propagated by the popular government led by Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister Sh. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.<\/p>\n

The Project Director said that all field unit heads from the sub-project to the SPMU levels have to chalk out the strategy to complete all activities as per the monthly action plans framed in advance to accelerate the pace of accomplishing the tasks under the project, as the meeting was reviewing the annual plan of operation (APO) for 2025-26 and 2026-27.<\/p>\n

Dr. Chauhan gave the target to all the unit heads to complete 200 irrigation schemes in the project area by June, 2026 and dedicate them to the farmers so that the farmers can be further empowered.<\/p>\n

The Project Director said that we have gathered here for introspection after the visit of the JICA Mid Term Mission and the first National Workshop, which have given us the indication of making smoother long-term road to success in strengthening the rural economy.<\/p>\n

Dr Chauhan further said that the unit leaders in HP JICA Agriculture Project have understood the strategy of working in a project and they must percolate the essentials of nitty-gritty of all the steps of planning, execution, feedback and the follow-up actions to the new commers at all levels, instead of depending upon of the single class of work-force.<\/p>\n

Dr. Sunil Chauhan said that as the nearly entire infrastructure works of the project have already been allocated, we must focus on crop-diversification, meaning thereby on production and building up social network through SHGs, CIGs, FPOs etc, concentrating on post-harvesting, and linking them to inner, outer and outland marketing channels through branding of produce and products. He said that let us do all this on the \u2018war-footing\u2019 with a vision on building planned strategy for the long-term.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by the Finance Officer Mr Pradeep Sharma, Dy Project\u2013Director Dr. Rajesh Kumar, District Project Managers Dr. Rajender Singh (Solan), Dr. Santosh Sharma (Hamirpur), Dr Yoginder Pal Kaushal (Palampur) and Dr Hem Raj Verma (Mandi), the Subject Specialist of the SPMU Dr. Jagdish Kumar, Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Dr. Anu Yadav, Sr Marketing Officer Ms Nitika Soni, the SMS from DPMU Palampur Dr Rajnish Sharma and the Block Project Managers or their representatives from 15 Block Project Management Units.<\/p>\n
